MIAA supports the growth, training, professional development, research, ethical standards, and collaboration related to the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music (GIM) and Music Imagery (MI) practices.

GIM is a music-centred and evidence-based form of psychotherapy that supports emotional, psychological, and spiritual wellbeing. Using carefully selected music, the therapist guides the client into a reflective inner journey helping them explore thoughts, feelings, and images in a safe and supportive space. It can be a powerful way to make sense of life’s challenges, gain new insights, and reconnect with your inner resources and creativity.

GIM integrates mind and body, recognising the deep connection between music, emotion, and lived experience. It can support people in times of stress, transition, trauma, or personal growth, and may be used on its own or alongside other therapeutic or medical care. Sessions are guided by trained therapists who tailor the experience to each individual.

Practised in private settings, healthcare, and community environments, GIM offers a unique approach that centres music as a pathway to healing, self-understanding, and meaningful change.

MIAA is an incorporated body under Consumer Affairs Victoria (Reg. A0032180H).
